Drushtyadyumna - The reincarnation of Eklavya

Everyone knows the story of Ekalavya, a great student who gave his thumb to his teacher Dronacharya without hesitation. In this story, we will find out who he was, why he died, and how he was born again as Drushtyadyumna.

Vasudeva(Krishna's father) had a brother named was Devashrava. He had a son and the scholars said that his birth would be detrimental to the world. With that, Devashrava took the boy and left him in the forest. The boy was found by a notorious tribal leader named Vyataraja Hiranyadenu. He named the boy Ekalavya.

Later he wanted to learn archery from Dronacharya, but Dronacharya refused Eklavya as his student. Most of us might have felt some rage at Dronacharya because of this as he turned down to teach an innocent boy and took away his thumb (Most needed for archery). But Dronacharya had a suspicion in his mind that "someone who has learned so much archery is a great danger if he goes in the wrong way."

But the same happened anyway.  Eklavya made a name for himself in archery. Impressed with his skills, Jarasandha (King of Magadha) made him as his commander and tried to invade Dwaraka (Krishna's city). Knowing this, Krishna defeated Jarasandhu's army and killed Ekalavya. Before killing Ekalavya he said to him, "Brother Ekalavya, we're cousins. What Dronacharya did to you is injustice. I give you a blessing that you'll be reincarnated  and kill him."

Thus Ekalavya dies at the hands of Lord Krishna and is reincarnated as DrushtyadyumnaHe was born from a yagna made out of the flames for the vengeance on Dronacharya by Drupada. Drushtyadyumna beheaded Dronacharya for killing his father (Drupada) in Kurukshetra.

After the war, Drishtyadyumnu died at the hands of Ashwarthama(Dhronacharya's son).

No matter how knowledgeable we are, we who have mastered any skill need to know how we are using it. Our education should be used only for good. In case if one's using his skills for the dark stuff, that right there would be his first step towards his downfall.

One of the many stories comes to an end!!

Thanks for reading!!
